NEW DELHI: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced that the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2024 will be conducted on January 12, 2025. In an advertisement issued in The Hindu, the medical board notified the exam and registration dates. FMGE December 2024 registration will commence on October 28. Eligible aspirants will be able to apply for the exam on the official website, natboard.edu.in.

The last date to apply for NBEMS FMGE 2024 is November 18. The information bulletin containing details regarding the eligibility criteria, application fee, exam pattern, marking scheme, admit card, and list of exam cities will be issued soon on the official website.

Candidate who is a citizen of India or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and should possess a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned, to be a recognized qualification for enrolment as medical practitioner in the country in which the institution awarding the qualification is situated.

Last year, applicants were required to pay a registration fee of Rs 7,080 in order to apply for the NBE FMGE exam. The fee payment can be done online via credit card, debit card, or net banking.

FMGE exam pattern

According to the exam pattern, the FMGE exam comprises two parts -- each part carrying a total of 150 questions. The question paper consists of overall 300 multiple-choice questions. There will be no negative marking. A candidate will be declared as passed if he or she obtains a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 in the examination.

FMGE is conducted as a screening test for aspirants desirous of getting a provisional or permanent license to practice medicine in India, from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or state medical councils.
