Former TISS director Parasuraman passes away; CM MK Stalin offers condolences
S Parasuraman, served as former director of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences from August 16, 2004, to February 5, 2018.

NEW DELHI: S Parasuraman, former director of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) passed away earlier today, September 2, 2022.
Expressing condolences, TISS wrote on Twitter, “With profound sorrow, we announce the passing away of Prof S Parasuraman, Former Director of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (16 August 2004 to 5 February 2018) earlier today. TISS deeply mourns his loss and offers condolences to his family.”

Professor S Parasuraman who has over 25 years of experience joined TISS as the director from 2004 and he quit from his position on February 5, 2018. He also has held the position of senior advisor to the United Nations Human Rights Commission, UNESCAP, Bangkok, Thailand. He was responsible for auditing all specialised UN organisations that have been programming development work in the rights framework in countries in Asia region.

Tamil Nadu chief minister tweeted his condolences and said, “I am saddened by the passing away of Parasuraman, who was born in a humble family in Kovilpatti and served for 14 years at the India's best educational institution TISS and who was a highly social activist. My deepest condolences to the family and friends.”
