From CLAT to MH CET Law 2021: Check status of major law entrance exams

NEW DELHI: The law entrance exams such as CLAT, MH CET law, AILET, DU LLB and others are popular among law aspiring students. These entrance exams will form the basis for admission to law programmes such as 5-year LLB, 3-year LLB and LLM. The law admission for the academic year 2021-22 has already been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The entrance exams have been announced in some cases, while in others, the final dates are yet to be determined.

There is still a lot of uncertainty over the law entrance exams in view of COVID-19 which is still affecting the daily lives. So, it is important for candidates to track all the exam-related events and stay up to date with the latest developments.

CLAT 2021 - Admit card expected, exam date announced

The exam date for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2021 is July 23, 2021 (evening shift). The application form for CLAT 2021 was available till July 15. The consortium may also release the CLAT 2021 admit card this week on its admission portal. Along with the admit card, it will also release the exam day guidelines and safety protocols considering the COVID-19 pandemic.

Will CLAT 2021 be postponed again?

Even though the country is recording over 30,000 cases of COVID-19 and more than 500 deaths every day, CLAT postponement is unlikely. The ICAI CA exams for July 2021 are currently being conducted even after repeated requests by students for postponement and a prolonged court hearing. Therefore, this means, if the offline based CA exam can be conducted across the country over multiple days, then holding a one-day CLAT will not be very difficult for the consortium unless state governments reimpose strict lockdown and announce travel restrictions.

AILET 2021 for NLU Delhi

National Law University Delhi conducts the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) for admission to BA LLB, LLM and PhD programmes. The university has closed the registration window and is all set to conduct AILET 2021 on July 30. It will be conducted in offline, centre based mode. The AILET admit card may be released at least two weeks before the examination.

MH CET Law 5-year LLB - Application form released

State CET Cell Maharashtra released the MH CET law application form for 5-year LLB on June 28, 2021. The application form will be closed on July 12. So, only a week is left for completing the application process. The entrance exam date for MH CET Law 2021 is yet to be announced. However, as per some media reports, the exam can be conducted in the first week of August 2021.

MH CET Law 2021 for 3-year LLB - Yet to be announced

The State CET Cell, Maharashtra is yet to release the application for MH CET law 2021 for 3-year LLB. The dates are likely to be announced in the last week of July 2021.

SLAT 2021 - Exam starts from July 10

Symbiosis International University will conduct Symbiosis Law Aptitude Test (SLAT) from July 10 to July 12 (10 am to 11:30 am). The exam will be held in online, remote proctored mode. The result for SLAT 2021 will be announced on July 27. SLAT is among a few law entrance exams that are being conducted in remote proctored mode.

KLEE 2021 - Exam date announced

The state-level entrance exam in Kerala, KLEE 2021 will be held on July 30 and July 31. It is conducted for admission to 3-year and 5-year LLB programmes. The Kerala Law Entrance Exam (KLEE) will be held in online centre-based mode. The application form for KLEE 2021 will be released very soon at cee.kerala.gov.in. Candidates may be given 20 days to complete the application process.

DU LLB 2021 - Admission process likely to start in July

According to Rajeev Gupta, chairman, DU admissions, the university may start the registration process (for admissions) by the third week of July. The registration for nine entrance-based courses and postgraduate courses which also includes LLB and LLM programmes will start in the first phase. In the second phase, merit-based admissions will be conducted.

TS LAWCET - Application active, dates announced

Osmania University which is the conducting body for TS LAWCET and TS PGLCET has released the detailed schedule for entrance examinations. Both TS LAWCET and TS PGLCET will be held on August 23. As per the latest updates, the university has extended the last date to submit the TS LAWCET application form till July 15 (without late fees). The admit card for TS LAWCET will be available for download on August 12.

PU LLB entrance exam 2021 - Application active

Punjab University has released the application form for PU LLB 2021 on June 25. The last date for registration is July 27 and the entrance exam will be held on August 8, in offline, centre-based format. The university also conducts entrance exams for admission to BA LLB and BBA LLB programmes, however, the admission dates for these programmes are yet to be confirmed.

Status of popular law entrance examinations 2021

So far, among the major law entrance exams, only LSAT India 2021 has been concluded. LSAT India was held in two sessions - March and June administrations. The LSAT India scorecard has been released and can be downloaded till July 18, 2021.
