NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur will release the GATE 2022 result on March 17 at gate.iitkgp.ac.in. Applicants who appeared for the exam can check the cut off marks along with the GATE result 2022. To check the result of GATE 2022, candidates need to enter their enrollment number and password.

As the difficulty level of the paper conducted in two slots might differ, IITKGP will implement a normalization process to calculate the impartial GATE 2022 score. The normalized score in the GATE 2022 exam will be calculated out of 1000, which is the GATE score of a candidate. The GATE 2022 scores are used for the admissions into PG engineering courses as well as Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to offer them employment.

Formula to calculate the GATE 2022 cut off marks

Cut off marks = sum of number of marks secured by all students upon number of students.

The minimum marks for general category is 25, while the cut off for backward caste is 90% of general. The cut off for SC/ST/PwD is 67% general.

Actual GATE marks

  • The GATE 2022 marks will be calculated out of 100 for 65 questions.

  • In multiple choice questions, aspirants will get one mark for every correct answer, while for every incorrect response ⅓ marks will be deducted.

  • In the case of numericals, no marks will be awarded or deducted from the total.

  • In 1 mark MCQs, every incorrect answer deducts 1/3 marks.

  • In 2 marks MCQs, every incorrect answer deducts 2/3 marks.

Normalized GATE marks- In order to be fair the exam, conducting authorities will come up with the process of normalization of GATE marks.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2022 was conducted on February 6, 7, 12 and 13 for 29 subjects. The exam was conducted in multiple sessions and slots.
