The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, GATE 2027 registration is underway and will end on September 27. Extended registration with late fee will close on October 5. In a latest update, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras said that candidates who have an unverified DigiLocker account can also register for the examination. Such candidates can select the default ID proof while filling out the application form.
The GATE 2027 authorities have clarified that applications submitted through unverified DigiLocker accounts will be scrutinised after the registration deadline. The scrutiny will be conducted to check the necessary documents submitted by the candidates.
IIT Madras has advised interested candidates to go through instructions before beginning the registration process.

GATE 2027 is being organised by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. The examination is conducted jointly by the IISc and IITs on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Candidates who qualify for the exam can use their scores for admission to postgraduate and doctoral programmes. Several public sector undertakings (PSUs) also use GATE scores for recruitment.
