GCPAS invites application for new postgraduate programmes

NEW DELHI: The Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Science (GCPAS), part of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is inviting applications for admission to two new postgraduate programmes - MA in ecosophical aesthetics and MA in art and peace studies. Students who have completed their graduation or have earned an equivalent degree are eligible to apply .
The ecosophical aesthetics programme is designed to hone budding ‘art writers’. Ecosophy combines ecology and philosophy and is essentially "art journalism from an ecosophical perspective", says the statement. The curriculum includes music, dance, literature, theatre, cinema and painting with a focus on writing.
MA in art and peace studies will concentrate on areas such as society, polity, development studies, gender studies, Gandhian studies, journalism, media and international peace and different forms of art such as music, dance, theatre, visual arts and cinema.
Talking about the courses introduced for the first time, Varadesh Hiregange, director, Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Science said, “I believe these courses will help students explore the ‘root’ of different issues,” further adding “The aim of our department is to cultivate writers with wisdom who can contribute in the fields of journalism, philosophy, ecology, arts and sciences.”
Industry connect
The centre will also offer professional possibilities for students in the fields of journalism, media and communication. The sectors targetted will be socio-cultural, political and environmental sectors, academics and research, policy research organizations and publishers.
The two-year programmes will consist of four semesters each. Plus, there will be a mandatory internship for completion of both the programs.
The last date for sending applications is July 15, 2020 .
