GIM commences academic year with online classes

NEW DELHI- Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has launched its academic year with online classes for their senior students. In order to avoid the further study loss, authorities have taken this action and from now on students of GIS are now able to attend the classes digitally from their residence via online mode. Earlier, GIM’s flagship programme which is Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and the Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management (PGDM HCM) the facility of online classes started from the first week of July 2020.

Course of Action for Online Classes at GIM for different programmes offered

Those who are pursuing Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Part Time (PGDM-PT) at GIM, their online classes are scheduled over the weekend through the year. Faculty of Goa Institute of Management have been taking online classes for the past three months. Those who are new students at GIM in any programme can avail this facility from August 2020 as per guideline which is issued by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

There are no online classes for those students who are pursuing Post Graduate Diploma in Big Data Analytics (PGDM BDA) because at present they are engaged in internship and their online classes are tentatively commence in October.

Students of PGDM and PGDM-HCM batch will have to do a two month internship while students of PGDM-BDA have to complete a five-month long internship. For online classes GIM, Goa has created fully equipped studies and virtual classrooms across the campus from where faculty members can conduct online classes and easily interact with students over Microsoft team platforms. The faculty members are already at the faculty block in GIM Goa campus so that they can easily access the virtual classroom and studios as per their convenience. All the assignment briefs and course materials are shared by all the students and faculty members via online.

GIM Goa Director Views on Online Education

Dr. Ajit Parulekar, Director, GIM on the online education medium which the institute has adopted in the wake of the pandemic, “At GIM we have always followed the adage ‘Learning never stops’. The rising number of cases across the country has prompted us to take the decision to commence classes online for now. An especially created Teaching Excellence Forum has been working along with faculty members to set up virtual classrooms, processes for evaluation and training sessions to aid faculty members gear up for the new-normal in management education. We will look to resume classroom-based learning once the restrictions are lifted.”
