At Sardar Patel Police University convocation, Haribhau Bagde stresses role of youth in policing, cybercrime and public trust
Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde on Sunday said that a convocation ceremony is not the end of education, but a significant milestone marking the beginning of a new phase in students' lives. Addressing the fourth convocation ceremony of Sardar Patel Police, Security and Criminal Justice University, Jodhpur on Sunday, Bagde congratulated the graduating students and extended his best wishes for their future.
He emphasised that the essence of convocation lies in dedicating the knowledge acquired to the service of society and the nation. The governor described convocation as an important juncture where students resolve to translate their education into practice. Referring to the ancient gurukul tradition, he said the true purpose of education is to progress in life guided by truth, righteousness and humility.

He urged students to act as guardians of law and justice, contributing to public safety, maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and upholding justice. Highlighting the challenges of policing in the world's most populous country, Bagde pointed to emerging threats such as cybercrime, terrorism, drug abuse and social imbalance.
He stressed that policing must be guided by the principle of public service as the highest duty, adding that a positive image of the police can only be built by treating citizens as partners. Public trust is the greatest strength of the police, he said. Underscoring the importance of information and communication technology, the governor called for greater proficiency in data analytics, forensics and cybersecurity, while also maintaining a strong foundation in human values.
