NEW DELHI: Hindi Diwas or Hindi Day is celebrated every year on September 14 as on this day in 1949, the constituent assembly recognised Hindi as the official language. Hindi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken chiefly in the Hindi Belt region encompassing parts of northern, central, eastern, and western India.
Hindi , written in the Devanagari script, is one of the two official languages of the Government of India, along with English. Hindi Diwas 2022 and World Hindi Day 2022 are celebrated on different days. World Hindi Day is celebrated around the world on January 10. On the occasion of Hindi Diwas 2022, PM Modi greeted the citizens of India and said, “Hindi has brought a special honor to India all over the world… On Hindi Diwas, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all those people who have contributed tirelessly in making it prosperous and empowered.”

Wishing all Happy Hindi Diwas, Union home minister Amit Shah tweeted, “Official language Hindi unites the nation in the thread of unity. Hindi is the friend of all Indian languages. The Modi government is committed to the parallel development of all local languages including Hindi. I salute the great personalities who have contributed to the preservation and promotion of Hindi.”

Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, “Hindi language, comprising many languages and dialects, has a special place in tying India in the thread of unity. Even today Hindi words are being used in many languages of the world. Greetings to all on Hindi Diwas. Let us take a pledge to be a partner in the upliftment of Hindi with our mother tongue.”
