NEW DELHI: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has successfully launched the first pilot project of ICAI ARF -Accounts Assistant Scheme today. The scheme was launched at the ICAI Head Office, New Delhi by Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Hon'ble Minister of State for Finance & Corporate Affairs. The main objective of the scheme is sustainable skill development of the local youth and to make them readily employable locally.
ICAI ARF-Accounts Assistant Scheme is an endeavour towards youth skill development and skill-based training in the subjects of Accounting, Tax Compliances & related topics. The scheme will also develop expertise on book-keeping, GST and Income Tax Compliances.
Salient features of the ICAI ARF Accounts Assistant Scheme
-
It will offer skill-based training programs and evaluation through a rigorous process monitored by the ICAI ARF team.
-
The scheme will be offered in joint efforts with an NGO/trust to mobilise the youth from ground level.
Thakur said that the project is launched initially for local youth of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. “ It is going to help the students who are above the age of 21 years & will train the local youth for bookkeeping, GST filing and understanding the tax procedures of GST. This is a major step towards the employment of the local youth and the fee structure is also reasonable ” he added.
Given the scheme is to be monitored and evaluated by ICAI, it will likely add credibility. Also, students who clear the scheme will get the chance to intern with experienced CAs, organisations etc. This will boost the employability of students locally, including through ICAI job portal.
