J Mahender Reddy, distinguished advisor of ICFAI group said: “The school would soon introduce other disciplines like psychology, sociology and political science.” The institute offers a 3-year BA, 2-year MA in Economics, and a doctoral research programme leading to a PhD.
The chancellor of the institute C Rangarajan virtually delivered the inaugural address. He lauded the idea of setting up a separate school for social sciences at ICFAI and said: "Bringing in multidisciplinary education should not dilute the teaching of various disciplines as they have developed over the years. The subjects should be taught how they were taught, and must be taught well.”
Mahendra Dev, university's former director and vice-chancellor, in his keynote address, said: "All the social sciences are interlinked and social science education would equip as well as empower students with broad understanding and knowledge on behaviour, cultures, societies, inclusiveness and social justice."
