ICFAI Hyderabad launches School of Social Sciences; to offer 4-year BA Economics programme

ICFAI Hyderabad department of social sciences offers a three year BA degree, 2 year MA degree in economics and a doctoral research program leading to a PhD.
NEW DELHI: The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education in Hyderabad launched its newly set-up ICFAI School of Social Sciences. Towards internationalising higher education, a 4-year BA Economics programme leading to an undergraduate (UG) degree with Honours or Honours with Research will be offered from the coming 2023-24 academic year, the official statement read.
Vice-Chancellor LS Ganesh informed that the department of social sciences comprises 23 faculty members, all holding a doctorate degree in economics. The university also informed that the recently set-up school of social sciences intends to offer education programmes at both UG and postgraduate (PG) levels, and promote research at the masters and doctoral degree levels.

J Mahender Reddy, distinguished advisor of ICFAI group said: “The school would soon introduce other disciplines like psychology, sociology and political science.” The institute offers a 3-year BA, 2-year MA in Economics, and a doctoral research programme leading to a PhD.
The chancellor of the institute C Rangarajan virtually delivered the inaugural address. He lauded the idea of setting up a separate school for social sciences at ICFAI and said: "Bringing in multidisciplinary education should not dilute the teaching of various disciplines as they have developed over the years. The subjects should be taught how they were taught, and must be taught well.”
Mahendra Dev, university's former director and vice-chancellor, in his keynote address, said: "All the social sciences are interlinked and social science education would equip as well as empower students with broad understanding and knowledge on behaviour, cultures, societies, inclusiveness and social justice."
