NEW DELHI: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations has been directed by the Supreme Court to adopt the CBSE’s re-assessment scheme. This order is in regard to the assessment of the students of Classes 9th and 11th who have failed in the CISCE examination.

As per the report of Times Now News, “The order was given by a bench of justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari, and Sanjiv Khanna today for the plea filed by a minor petitioner of Class 9 through Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava”.

The report further added that if ICSE Board will not follow the re-assessment as followed by CBSE, ICSE students will miss out on right to equality which is guaranteed as per Article 14 of the constitution.

Earlier, Union human resource development minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ wrote on Twitter in regard to CBSE re-assessment that “All CBSC schools are being directed to provide an opportunity to all those children who have failed in 9th and 11th to take the test in online/offline/innovative way.”

SC has directed the ICSE Board to follow the CBSE’s re-assessment scheme to help students save their academic year. However, this provision will be given to the students only for the year 2020-21.
