IGNOU celebrates 74th Republic Day across its 56 regional centers

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) celebrated the 74th Republic Day in its campus in Maidan Garhi, Delhi.
NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) celebrated the 74th Republic Day in its campus in Maidan Garhi, Delhi. As per the official IGNOU release, Republic Day 2023 was also celebrated across the 56 Regional Centers of the university. The vice chancellor of the university, Professor Nageshwar Rao unfurled the national flag at the VCO premises.
In his address on the occasion, Professor Rao said, "IGNOU has signed a number of agreements including the University's efforts to train & skill the Young population of the country including recently inked MoU with MSDE (Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Government Of India) for integrating vocational education and training to higher education for the trainees attached to National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs), ITIs, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK) and Jan Shikshan Sansthan."

The vice chancellor also quoted about agreements entered with the Armed Forces for providing higher education to the Agniveers. "The Professional Development Programme to train higher edu teachers on NEP 2020 by the University, is a nationwide programme using the unique pedagogy of IGNOU," he explained. He also expressed his satisfaction with the Substantial increase in the number of ODL programmes and courses launched.

The other highlight of the Republic Day Celebrations was the special display activities organized by the Security Department of the University like Kalaripayattu by Madras Regiment, Gatka by Sikh Regiment, and Khukri by Gorkha Rifles.
