IGNOU launches four-year BSc programme in fabric and apparel design under ODL mode

The BSc in fabric and apparel design programme, offered by IGNOU’s SOCE, provides students with flexible exit options. The fee is fixed at Rs 11,000 per year.
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a Bachelor of Science (BSc) programme in fabric and apparel design under the open distance learning (ODL) mode. The four-year undergraduate programme is being offered through the School of Continuing Education (SOCE).
The programme is designed in line with the UGC curriculum and credit framework, as well as the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 , and aims to integrate textile science with creative fashion design and technical garment construction skills.
This programme offers multiple exit options. Students can exit the programme after one year with an undergraduate certificate, after two years with an undergraduate diploma, after three years with a BSc degree, and after four years with a BSc (Honours) degree in fabric and apparel design.
According to the university, the programme focuses on innovation, sustainability, and professional skills. Students will gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to textile manufacturing, garment production, and design processes.
IGNOU BSc Admission 2026: Eligibility
Candidates who have passed Class 12 with Science in English medium and have completed between 3 and 6 years after passing are eligible to apply for the IGNOU BSc in fabric and apparel design programme.
The total programme fee is Rs 11,000 per year, excluding registration and development charges. The programme carries 120 credits for three years, and examinations will be conducted annually.
“Graduates of this programme can begin their careers in roles such as textile or fabric designers, apparel designers, garment pattern makers, technical designers, fashion illustrators, merchandisers, buyers, visual merchandisers, and fashion educators or trainers,” according to the IGNOU statement.

- Fill the IGNOU application form with valid information.
- Upload the required documents in a prescribed format and size.
- Pay the application fee and submit the form.
- Download the submitted application and take a printout of the same for future reference.
