IIIT Hyderabad, AlphaGrep to set up lab for AI, ML research in quantitative finance

Predict NowNEW DELHI : The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad has partnered with AlphaGrep to launch a research initiative in ‘AI and machine learning in quantitative finance.’ As per the IIIT Hyderabad’s statement, AlphaGrep has committed Rs 3.5 crore to support the research lab, skill building, and applications of AI, and machine learning in quantitative finance.

The precog group of researchers at IIIT Hyderabad develops solutions to contribute to various emerging fields such as applied machine learning , safe AI techniques, natural language processing, and social network analysis.
The initiative headed by Ponnurangam Kumaraguru PK, Mohit Mutreja, and Hemang Mandalia, will facilitate faculty and student-driven research to foster technical advancements and strengthen the bridge between academia and industry.
“This initiative marks AlphaGrep’s second major academic partnership, reinforcing its commitment to advancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) research,” the IIIT Hyderabad statement said.

The managing director of Alpha Grep, Mohit Mutreja said: "We are excited to expand our academic partnerships and work with IIIT Hyderabad’s Precog to push the boundaries of machine learning research in quantitative finance. By providing students with access to adequate resources, mentorship, and real-world problem-solving opportunities, we aim to drive impactful innovation in AI and quantitative research. "
Talking about the partnership, PJ Narayanan the director of IIIT-H said: “Quantitative finance is a highly data-intensive area. Given its strengths in AI and data analytics, IIIT Hyderabad can achieve much by partnering with a top company in that space like AlphaGrep. I am looking forward to the activities emanating from the collaboration."
