NEW DELHI : With rebound in businesses and the economy since the Covid-19 pandemic, India’s business schools saw placement packages increase in size in the 2021-22 academic session. The median salaries of placed graduates from management colleges also increased as the pandemic effect dampened.
The lowest median salary of students from top 10 Indian management colleges who secured jobs increased by 58.46% and highest median salary rose by 14.13% from 2020-21 to 2021-22, shows a comparison of data submitted for ranking by education ministry’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in the two academic years.
The median salary is the middle value between the highest and lowest pay of workers.
The 2022 edition of the NIRF India rankings used data from the 2020-21 academic session which coincided exactly with the Covid-19 pandemic which left a deep impact on business and functioning of colleges. The latest data considered for the 2023 edition of the rankings is from the 2021-22 academic session. That period saw the reopening and recovery of institutions and businesses. This is the eighth consecutive edition of rankings of institutions of higher education in India since 2016.
The Indian economy grew at a rate of 8.7% in the 2021-22 financial year, 1.5 points more than the previous year’s growth.
