IIMC Application to be available from March 20

NEW DELHI, MARCH 14: Indian Institute of Mass Communication has announced the dates for the IIMC entrance exam. Candidates interested in applying for the post graduate diploma programmes in Journalism, Advertising & Public Relations and Radio & TV Journalism can fill the application from March 20, 2018. The application forms can be filled online or offline. The last date for filling the form is May 1, 2018.

The IIMC entrance test for Odia/Urdu/Marathi/ Malayalam Journalism will be held on March 26, 2018 while entrance exam for the post graduate diploma courses in Journalism (Hindi and English), Radio and TV journalism, Advertising and Public Relations will be held on May 27, 2018. The entrance exam will be for two hours.  Admissions on the basis of the IIMC entrance exam will be offered at the regional centres of IIMC which are

  • Dhenkanal (Odisha)
  • Aizawl (Mizoram),
  • Amravati (Maharashtra)
  • Jammu (J&K)
  • Kottayam (Kerala)

Graduates in any discipline or those who are in the final year will be eligible to appear for the entrance exam. However, students in the final year will have to deposit their provisional certificate or final year marksheet by August 31, 2018. Candidates belonging to the general category must be born on August 1, 1993 or later to be eligible to appear for the written test while OBC category candidates must be born on or after August 1, 1990. SC, ST, PwD category candidates must be born on or later than August 1, 1988.

The application fee details and payment mode are yet to be announced by the institute. Candidates will be required to upload their photograph and signature as per specifications while filling the online application and will have to affix the same if they are filling the offline form. 

Candidates applying for Journalism will be assessed on the following parameters

  • General Awareness, including understanding of social dynamics; interest in social history; awareness of public debates on matters of polity and economy; awareness about international developments influencing power equations in the world and their impact on India.
  • Aptitude & mental make-up
  • Language capability
  • Analytical & comprehension skills

Advertising and Public Relations aspirants will be assessed on the following parameters:

  • General Awareness
  • Aptitude & mental make-up
  • Language capability
  • Analytical & Comprehension skills
  • Brand awareness & recall and
  • Quantification skills.
