IIT Bombay to hold 26th annual science, technology festival
IIT Bombay's Techfest will include various events such as drone light show, Jio 5G launch, Techfest drone racing, EDM night, lectures and exhibitions.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) will be organising its 26th edition of annual science and technology festival- 'Techfest' from December 16 to 18, 2022. The event will be held offline after two years due to the pandemic.
The major highlights of the event include a drone light show, the Jio 5G network, the Techfest drone racing, an EDM night, lectures and exhibitions among other activities. The Techfest will also be having participation from all over the world with competitions like the international robowars, international full throttle and boeing aeromodelling challenge.

Lectures
The programme will be attended by the president of Finland, Tarja Halonen; the former Indian railway minister, Suresh Prabhu; co-founder of google maps, Lars Rasmussen; NASA, HEO, associate administrator, Kathryn Lueders; the former chairman of DRDO, G Satheesh Reddy; International Olympic committee, member, Octavian Morariu; Spacetime Foundation, CEO and co-founder, Masayasu Ishida and ISRO, director, liquid propulsion system centre, V Narayan.
Exhibitions at IIT-B Techfest
The exhibition will be displaying innovations in the field of science and technology such as BrahMos- world's fastest anti-ship cruise missile; Formula E M8 electro Gen2; Unitree GO1- world's first intelligence bionic quadruped robot; SpaceHopper ETH Zurich - a small scale legged robot for low-gravity space exploration; Raptor ETH Zurich - a drone for quickly picking objects of any geometry; INDRO - the tallest humanoid robot built in India and ISRO - Indian space research organisation.
Jio- 5G launch
The Techfest in association with Jio will be launching the 5G network for consumer testing in India. This will make IIT Bombay the first 5G Institute and Mumbai the first city with 5G consumer operating network in India. With this launch, India will become the 11th country in the world to have a 5G network alongside with other countries such as China, USA, and South Korea.
Drone race and light show
This year, for the first time in the event's history, Techfest plans on organising a drone show where hundreds of drones will create a choreography on December 18. The drone race will be held on December 16 at the gymkhana grounds of IIT Bombay, the winners will be able to get prizes worth Rs 1 lakh.
EDM Night
The event will also be hosting MADDIX, a DJ as the headliner for the night. The final of the 26th Techfest will be held at the gymkhana grounds of IIT Bombay on December 18.
