IIT Kanpur selected lead coordinator for 'ASEAN-India Startup 2022’

SIIC IIT Kanpur has begun the application process for selecting 30 Indian startups and the last date to apply for the same is September 12, 2022.
NEW DELHI: The Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has been chosen as India's lead coordinator for the 'ASEAN-India Startup Festival 2022.' The festival will take place in Indonesia from October 27 to 30, 2022, to commemorate the ASEAN-India Partnership's 30th anniversary. The collaboration, which aims to strengthen the ASEAN-India Partnership in science and technology, will also be supported by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India (DST).
The ASEAN-India startup festival will provide an opportunity for Indian startups to connect with businesses and investors on a global scale. For the event, IIT Kanpur is inviting startups from across India. A total of 30 Indian startups will be selected to represent India at the International Forum. Shortlisted startups will also have the opportunity to compete in the event's 'Pitch Battle' for a cash prize of up to US dollar 7,500.

Addressing the young startups, IIT Kanpur director Abhay Karandikar said, “India is emerging as a global leader in the startup and innovation landscape. I’m proud that IIT Kanpur’s incubation ecosystem can share its learning of 2 decades, not only with new incubators from India but also from ASEAN nations. Strong cooperation in the field of science and technology among India and ASEAN nations is the need of the 21st century, and we are delighted that IIT Kanpur’s technology business incubator SIIC is given the responsibility of coordinating the ASEAN India Startup Festival. I’m sure the festival will open up multiple avenues for collaborative growth in research and innovation among the participating nations.”

IIT Kanpur has begun the application process for selecting a maximum of 30 Indian startups and the last date to apply for the same is September 12, 2022. “The startups will be shortlisted after a two-round evaluation process, and the final list will be posted on the program's website, siicincubator.com/IndoAsean.php, the statement from IIT Kanpur said.
The ASEAN-India Startup Festival is being organised in collaboration with the Indonesia Research and Innovation Expo (INA-RIE) by the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia.
