IIT Madras launches GATE preparation portal through NPTEL to support aspirants

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, through the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) has introduced a GATE exam preparation online portal, in collaboration with Amadeus Labs to help students prepare for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam. The portal, called NPTEL GATE Portal is freely accessible to all students, with CSR support from Amadeus Labs Bengaluru. Candidates can access the NPTEL-IIT Madras GATE preparation portal on the NPTEL website -- gate.nptel.ac.in.
GATE is an entrance exam for taking admissions for master's or PhD in IITs or Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and other such educational institutions across India. Many public sector undertakings (PSUs) also recruit applicants based on the GATE scores. About 9 to 10 lakh aspirants are expected to take the GATE exams next year. According to a statement from IIT Madras, this GATE online coaching portal will make the preparation journey easier for the aspirants. NPTEL will provide more than 2,400 courses with video solutions, practice tests, and online assistance in line with the GATE syllabus, claims the institute.

NPTEL is a joint initiative of IITs and IISc, providing free online certification courses. V Kamakoti, director of IIT Madras c ongratulated NPTEL for developing this GATE online coaching during the launch event today, August 12. “GATE examination tests the knowledge in fundamentals acquired by a candidate during the undergraduate education. Success in GATE enables both higher education and employment options. NPTEL is leveraging its content to guide and help candidates prepare and create a level playing field by providing equal opportunities for people to attempt the GATE exam,” he said.
