NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has relaunched the online certificate programme on emobility in its second cohort. The first cohort, launched in September 2022, witnessed a record level of enrolment. The programme, meant for working professionals, seeks to provide an overview of the e-Mobility eco-system and basic fundamentals in technical areas. The last date to register online for the second cohort is March 20.

The certificate programme, an institute statement said, was launched with inputs from industry experts and is being continuously upgraded based on technology trends, market trends and industry needs.

The online certificate programme contains 120 hours of video classes and another 40 hours of online contact classes with the faculty. Candidates need to complete regular assignments and a final evaluation, upon which they will receive a certificate. The second cohort will start on April 1, 2023.

The course, being offered through IIT Madras’ Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), will provide basic fundamentals in technical areas such as vehicle development, power electronics, battery engineering, thermal management, power trains, and EMI/ EMC, among other areas.

Elaborating on this program, Devendra Jalihal, chairman, Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), IIT Madras, said: “We worked with Industry leaders and designed this course to suit Working Professionals who are looking to get an overview of eMobility. We knew then that it was a unique offering with very high value. But none of us in the team expected such high appreciation and enrolment for the program.”

“Both companies and individuals were very happy with the structure, content and delivery of the program. We now know that we can offer this Program globally across time zones. We had to reduce theory and increase application, and brought Industry Professionals to deliver a significant portion of the content,” the chairman added.
