IIT Madras starts registration for MTech admission 2025 at 6 pm, launches MTech in electric vehicles

IIT Madras: Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website, mtechadm.iitm.ac.in, before the last date April 25.
NEW DELHI : The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras will start accepting applications for IIT Madras MTech admissions 2025 from today, March 27, at 6 pm. The institute has also launched a new MTech in the electric vehicles programme for aspirants.
Eligible candidates can apply online for admission through the official website, mtechadm.iitm.ac.in. IIT Madras is also accepting online applications for MSc and MA programmes.
The last date for IIT Madras admissions is April 25. Candidates who have qualified for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) can apply for MTech admissions through the official COAP portal.
Candidates who have qualified GATE 2025, 2024, or 2023, IIT BTech graduates, sponsored candidates, QIP candidates, UOP candidates, and defense-sponsored candidates can apply for IIT Madras MTech admissions 2025.
The application fee for IIT Madras MTech admissions for the SC, ST, and PwD categories is Rs 300, while other candidates will have to pay Rs 600.

IIT Madras MTech admissions 2025 eligibility criteria
The IIT Madras MTech admissions 2025 eligibility criteria for MTech courses are as follows.
- Candidates having a bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or architecture from educational Institutions approved by AICTE or the government can apply.
- Candidates having a master’s degree in chemistry, life sciences, mathematics, or physics-related subjects from educational Institutions approved by UGC or the government.
- Candidates having degrees through distance education, correspondence mode for the qualifying degree specified. The departments will conduct suitability tests and interview procedures for screening in such cases.
- Candidates appearing in the final year of the exams can also apply.
- Candidates graduating or graduated from IITs having a BTech degree with CGPA of 8.0 (on a scale of 10) and above can apply without a GATE score .
IIT Madras Admissions 2025: Financial assistance
The financial assistance and opportunities available for MTech admissions are as follows.
- Candidates who have a four-year degree and are admitted to MTech programmes with a ministry of education (MoE) assistantship, that is, a half-time teaching assistantship (HTTA), will get Rs 12,400 per month for 22 months.
- Meritorious MTech and MA students are eligible for conversion to the PhD programme after one year. Additionally, joint PhD programmes are also available.
- MTech students can also carry out their projects in industries or approved organisations.
- IIT Madras has special exchange fellowships like DAAD and other overseas research opportunities.
- Fellowships from government organizations and industries are also available for a few fields.

Aspirants willing to take admission to the IIT Madras MTech courses can fill out the online application form. IIT Madras will prepare a merit list of the selected candidates based on their performance in the qualifying exams. Candidates will be offered seats based on GATE scores. Candidates will have to pay the required programme fee to confirm their seats for MTech admissions.
