India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Registration process begins for 23,757 vacancies; fill forms by Sep 21

India Post has begun the registration process for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Schedule 2 today, August 31. Candidates can register for GDS recruitment 2026 on the official website, indiapost.gov.in, by September 19.

The GDS recruitment 2026 application form filling process will begin on September 2 and 21. The application correction window will remain open from September 23 to 24.

According to the GDS recruitment notice, candidates are not required to attach or upload any documents along with the application form. However, candidates will have to upload their recent photograph and signature on the portal in the prescribed format.

A total of 23,757 vacancies have been offered for branch postmaster (BPM), assistant branch, postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevaks in the offices of department of posts.

India Post GDS Recruitment 2026: Selection process

For GDS recruitment, candidates belonging to the general category will be required to pay an application fee of Rs 100, however, the fee is exempted for all female, scheduled caste (SC), scheduled tribe (ST), PwBD, and trans women applicants.

GDS recruitment 2026 merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained/ conversion of grades in secondary school examination of Class 10 from recognised boards, aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals. Moreover, the final selection of the shortlisted candidates will be subject to physical verification of the original documents.

Candidates must note that a department or engaging authorities of each post reserve the right to modify, cancel, or revise the number of posts to stop the engagement process altogether.

Additionally, the department will also verify Class 10 marks of the candidates, if available on DigiLocker, through the API SETU PORTAL of the department of e-Governance, ministry of information and technology. Therefore, the candidates will have to submit an understanding/consent, as given in Annexure-X of the GDS notification, to authorise the department ot access their marksheet through the said portal for verification purposes.
