'Integrate Ayurveda, Yoga with modern medical practices': Mansukh Mandaviya at NAMS

NEW DELHI: The 62^nd foundation day event of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), was addressed by Mansukh Mandaviya, Union minister for health and family welfare today, April 21. He congratulated NAMS and expressed his appreciation as over 20 eminent institutions across India participated in the event.

During his speech, Mandaviya encouraged NAMS and researchers to collaborate with the private sector in research and innovation. He also released the book, “Journey of NAMS” congratulated the presidents of academics and associations at the gathering, and said a statement from the ministry of health and family welfare.

“This nation never had a shortage of manpower or brainpower. We only have to be self-confident,” said Mandaviya. He further urged the audience to develop self-confidence to carry on indigenous research forward. “The need of the hour is to integrate our own indigenous medical systems like Ayurveda, Yoga with modern medical practices. There should be greater emphasis on research and innovation”, he stated.

Mandaviya also spoke about India’s healthcare facilities and the development of this field. He said that advancement in India's healthcare was evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We not only developed the Covid-19 vaccine but also manufactured and exported them in a very short time. There were gloomy projections made on India’s Covid management strategy but we were not only able to manage the pandemic well but also shared our best practices globally,” he said.
