Students protested outside Kalam Academy in Jaipur after a teacher allegedly slapped and kicked a student on October 2.
Jaipur: Students of a coaching institute in Jaipur staged a protest on Sunday after a teacher allegedly assaulted a student inside a classroom, following which the institute removed him from service. The incident took place at the Jaipur centre of Kalam Academy on October 2, when teacher Praveen Dan Charan allegedly slapped and kicked a student over an issue, officials said.
"What happened to me should not happen to any other student," the student said, adding that he would lodge a police complaint. A video of the incident subsequently surfaced, following which a large number of students gathered outside the coaching centre on Sunday and demanded strict action against the teacher.
Police reached the spot after the protest intensified and dispersed the students. In a statement, Kalam Academy condemned the incident and said the teacher's conduct was a personal act. The institute said the teacher was removed from service with immediate effect after the matter came to its notice.
