NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has released the official JEE Advanced 2021 brochure at jeeadv.ac.in on June 25. IIT Kharagpur has introduced some changes for JEE Advanced 2021. However, the exam dates have not been announced yet.

JEE Advanced 2021: Major changes

JEE Advanced 2020 registered candidates- Candidates who were eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2020 but were absent will be given a chance to appear for JEE Advanced 2021. These candidates are not required to fulfil the other eligibility criteria like appearing in JEE Main 2021. However, these candidates will be required to register online for JEE Advanced 2021 and pay the registration fee as per the schedule.

These candidates would be considered in addition to and not as part of the total number of candidates who would qualify from JEE Main 2021 for appearing in JEE Advanced 2021.

Changes in JEE Advanced exam centres 2021- As per the official brochure, eight new JEE Advanced exam cities have been added this year and 7 cities have been removed. Candidates will be required to select eight preferred cities/towns while filling the JEE Advanced application form 2021.

Supernumerary seats for female candidates- Considering the directions of the Ministry of Education, Government of India and the decision taken by the IIT Council, supernumerary seats have been created for female candidates for improving the gender balance in the undergraduate programmes in IITs. These supernumerary seats will be offered to only those female candidates who will be declared qualified in JEE Advanced 2021, and strictly on the basis of their performance in the test.

The number of supernumerary seats in various programmes will be decided by individual IITs ensuring that every institute has at least 20% female enrolment in undergraduate programmes.

JEE Advanced exam date 2021 and other important dates have not been released by the authorities yet. Earlier, JEE Advanced 2021 was scheduled to be held on July 3 but has been postponed. As the official brochure is out, it is expected that the entire JEE Advanced 2021 schedule will be released soon.

Also, JEE Advanced 2021 eligibility criteria have been relaxed this year. Candidates are not required to fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria of having 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) in Class 12.
