NEW DELHI: You must have heard about the people who first landed on space or the moon but ever wondered about one of those, behind the scenes, who made it happen – engineers? Well, if you dream high and want to reach the sky, without actually being there, then aerospace engineering might be the right choice for you.

A few of the top engineering institutes in the country, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), offer a BTech degree in aerospace engineering including IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Bombay. Previously known as aeronautical engineering, the programme deals with the various components involved in giving birth to an aircraft or a spacecraft (designing and development) and taking care of it (maintenance).

And the admissions to BTech in Aerospace Engineering are offered through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. This year, IIT Madras will be conducting JEE Advanced 2024 on May 26. Upon declaration of JEE Advanced result 2024, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct the counselling process for IIT BTech admissions 2024.

In the last three years, the JEE Advanced cut-offs for the BTech programme have seen ups and downs. The highest JEE Advanced cut-off at which an IIT closed admission to the course last year was 2,694 for gender-neutral seats at IIT Bombay. However, the institute dropped its cut-offs while all other IITs went for an increase.
