NEW DELHI: The Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE Main 2023) session 2 day 2 exams were held on April 8. The shift 1 exam was easy in difficulty level with a lengthy mathematics paper, while shift 2 was moderately difficult. Candidates can download the April 10 exam jeemain.nta.nic.in admit card from the official website. Students will be able to know latest updates on JEE Mains 2023 session 2 question paper analysis, memory-based-questions, topics asked, unofficial answer key and more.

The JEE Main 2023 exam today was held in two slots. The first slot was held from 9 am to 12 noon and the second slot was conducted between 3 pm and 6 pm. The JEE Mains 2023 which started on April 6 will continue till April 15.

Students who appeared for the JEE Main 2023 April session exam on Thursday, said that the overall difficulty level was balanced and moderate. Several students also said that the JEE Main day 1 exam was in line with the January session 2023 exam.

Candidates must follow all the instructions as prescribed for the JEE Mains exam day. Checklist for JEE Main 2023 exam day.

  • Candidates will be required to take the JEE Main admit card
  • Applicants must carry any one of the original and valid photo identification proof issued by the government -- PAN card or driving license or voter id or passport or aadhaar card with photograph) or e-aadhaar or ration card or identification affidavit.
  • The JEE Main 2023 hall ticket has details of guidelines including filling up of a self-declaration form.
  • Candidates should avoid wearing any piece of jewellery, watch, or any other gadgets and ornaments.
  • JEE Main admit card and the rough pages should be handed over to the invigilator after the end of the exam.

  • Moderately tough level. Mixed concept questions were asked.
  • Questions asked from straight lines, parabola, circles, limits, continuity and differentiability, differential equations, area, matrices, binomial theorem, probability, statistics, determinants, vectors, 3D geometry, mathematical reasoning, complex numbers, progression series.
  • Both MCQs and numerical based questions required lengthy calculations.

Tie between candidates obtaining equal Total NTA scores in Paper 1 (BE, BTech) will be resolved in the following manner in descending order:

"Every student was made to go through a sanitizing station where they had to sanitize themselves through a foot press lever. Students reported that entry was stopped after 8:30 am. Personal masks were not allowed. Every student was given a fresh surgical mask at entry. Metal detectors were used at the entry gate and no bags or wrist watches were allowed inside."

JEE Mains 2023 Chemistry Analysis: Topics asked

Chemistry question paper was easy to moderate in difficulty level. Organic & Inorganic Chemistry had questions directly from NCERT books. Less weightage given to Physical Chemistry that too in numerical section. In Physical Chemistry questions were asked from Electrochemistry, Ionic Equilibrium, Chemical Kinetics, Chemical Equilibrium and Atomic Structure. Organic Chemistry had questions from Aldehydes & Ketones, Atul & Alkyl Halides, Amines, Alcohols, Biomolecules and General Organic Chemistry. Inorganic had questions from Co-ordination Compounds, Chemistry in Everyday Life, Group-18. Few questions from Organic Chemistry were tricky but not tough.

JEE Main 2023 session 2 day 2 shift 1 exam: Immediate reaction from students after the exam

As per Ramesh Batlish, Centre Head-FIITJEE Noida centres the reaction if the students after the JEE Main 2023 session 2 day 2 shift 1 exam is as follows-

  • The reporting time for students was 7:20 am however the exam started sharp at 9 am.
  • Students were not allowed to carry anything inside the examination hall except a transparent ballpoint pen, admit card and aadhar card. Transparent water bottles were allowed. All guidelines as released by NTA earlier were followed for the safety of the exam takers.
  • Every student was made to go through a sanitizing station where they had to sanitize themselves through a foot press lever. Students reported that entry was stopped after 8:30 am.
  • Personal masks were not allowed. Every student was given a fresh surgical mask at entry.
  • Metal detectors were used at the entry gate and no bags or wristwatches were allowed inside.
  • Students reported that entry started as soon as they were screened at the entry point.

JEE Main 2023 session 2 day 2: Shift 1 exam difficulty level

The level of difficulty as per feedback from students-

  • Mathematics – Moderate Level. Questions were asked from all chapters with emphasis on Chapters of Algebra & Calculus. Questions asked from Matrices, Determinants, 3D Geometry, Vectors, Progressions, Permutation & Combination, Probability, Binomial Theorem, Complex Numbers, Differentiation, Differential Equations, Definite Integrals, Area under Curves, Parabola & Circle. The Numerical Section had lengthy calculations. Few questions in MCQs were reported as Lengthy but not tough.
  • Physics – Easy. Questions were asked from Kinrmatics, Laws of Motion, Rotational Motion, Work, Power & Energy, , Error Analysis, Capacitance, Magnetism, Semi-Conductors, Current Electricity,  Communication Systems, Modern Physics, Electrostatics. Numerical based questions were easy. Overall, the students felt this section was Balanced and Easy.
  • Chemistry – Easy to Moderate level. Organic & Inorganic Chemistry had questions directly from NCERT Books. Less weightage given to Physical Chemistry that too in Numerical Section. In Physical Chemistry, questions were asked from Electrochemistry, Ionic Equilibrium, Chemical Kinetics, Chemical Equilibrium and Atomic Structure. Organic Chemistry had questions from Aldehydes & Ketones, Atul & Alkyl Halides, Amines, Alcohols, Biomolecules and General Organic Chemistry. Inorganic had questions from Co-ordination Compounds, Chemistry in Everyday Life, Group-18. Few questions from Organic Chemistry were tricky but not tough.

In terms of order of difficulty – Mathematics was moderate, Chemistry was easy to moderate, and Physics was easy. Overall, this paper was easy to moderate level as per students.

The paper had two parts and each part had three sections:

  • Part 1: Physics had total 30 questions – Sec 1 had 20 Multiple choice questions with Single correct answers & Sec 2 had 10 Numerical based questions out which only 5 had to be attempted. Marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response, 0 if not attempted. The marking scheme for numerical-based questions was +4 for correct response and 0 in all other cases. Total marks of this section were 100.
