NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) concluded day 2 of JEE Main session 2 today. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2023) shift 1 of session 2 was easy, while the shift 2 question paper was moderate in difficulty level. The NTA conducted the JEE Main 2023 exam for BE, BTech admission. Each section has 30 questions each. In total, the three sections - mathematics, physics and mathematics- had 90 questions carrying 300 marks.

As per the JEE Mains 2023 marking scheme, each correct answer will be awarded with 4 marks, while one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. If a student leaves a question unattempted no marks will be given.

JEE Main 2023 April 8 shift 2 analysis

Students found the shift 2 question paper tougher than the previous shifts. “In terms of order of difficulty – Maths was moderately tough, chemistry was moderate, while physics was easy. Overall, this paper was moderate to tough level,” as per students. Here’s the paper-wise question paper analysis and topics asked, as per the FIITJEE.

Mathematics - Moderately tough. Mixed concept questions were asked. The JEE maths questions were asked from straight lines, parabola, circles, limits, continuity and differentiability, differential equations, area, matrices, binomial theorem, probability, statistics, determinants, vectors, 3D geometry, mathematical reasoning, complex numbers, progression series. Both MCQs and numerical based questions required lengthy calculations. “This section was lengthy and tricky as per a few students, while some students also reported this as tough,” it said.

Physics – Easy level. More weightage was given to chapters of kinematics, circular motion, rotational motion, laws of motion, rotational motion, SHM, gravitation, heat & thermodynamics, wave optics, current electricity, electrostatics, AC circuits, modern physics, error analysis, semi-conductors and optics. numerical based questions were reported as easy. It was a balanced section.

Chemistry- Moderate Level. Physical chemistry was given less weightage as compared to organic and inorganic chemistry. Questions asked from p-block elements, qualitative analysis, titrations, biomolecules, general organic chemistry, aldehydes and ketones, amines, chemical equilibrium, atomic structure, solutions, chemical kinetics. MCQs were tricky compared to the numerical section. More weightage was given to Class 11 chapters.
