JEE Main 2025 Live: NTA JEE Mains registration ‘will be starting in due course’; session 1 exams in January

The full form of JEE Main is Joint Entrance Examination Main. It is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate engineering programs (BE/BTech) in institutions like NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions.

Last year, 9,24,636 common candidates registered for JEE Main Paper 1 (BE, BTech), with 8,22,899 of them taking the engineering entrance exam. The first session of JEE Main had over 12 lakh applicants, while 11.79 lakh candidates applied for the second session.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the official website for the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) 2025 is jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates are encouraged to visit this site for information regarding the exam dates, registration process, application form, syllabus, eligibility criteria, and other relevant details.

• According to Ramesh Batlish, managing partner and head, of FIITJEE Noida centre, the JEE Main 2025 new exam pattern will have the listed below changes:

• Candidates have to prepare all chapters each in physics, chemistry, and mathematics for those opting for JEE Main 2025 paper 1 ( BE, BTech)

• Candidates opting for Paper 2A (BArch) and Paper 2B (BPlanning) will have to cover all chapters in mathematics.

• JEE Main 2025 cut-offs may be slightly lower down as there will be negative markings and no optional questions now.

• Some students doing selective study may feel the pressure to now study all chapters

• Students already enrolled in coaching institutes may not feel the heat as they are trained on pattern-proof material and testing methodologies.

The JEE Main reservation criteria for 2024 are as follows.

• Other Backward Classes - Non-Creamy Layer (OBC - NCL): 27%
• Scheduled Caste: 15%
• Scheduled Tribe: 7.5%
• Persons with Disabilities: 5% in each quota

However,  JEE Main reservation criteria 2025 is yet to be announced.

The JEE Main exam is conducted every year in 13 languages; English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

The registration for JEE Main 2025 is likely to begin in November 2024 and will be conducted entirely online. The application process will involve steps such as registration, completing the form, uploading necessary documents, and paying the required fees.

Candidates who have qualified Class 12 board exams in the year 2023, 2024 or appearing in 2025 are eligible to apply for JEE Mains 2025. However, the candidate may be required to meet the JEE eligibility criteria of the institute to which they are taking admission.

Candidates can attempt JEE Main for three consecutive years, with two attempts per year.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main exam is held for admission to BTech, BArch and BPlan courses at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions,

JEE Main scores are valid for one year. This means candidates can use their JEE Main 2025 scores for admission at participating institutions in the academic year 2025-26.

The total marks for JEE Main 2025 paper 1 is 300 marks. The JEE Main 2025 total marks for paper 2 is 400 marks.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the JEE Main 2025 exam for both sessions.

Candidates can attempt JEE Main for three consecutive years, with two attempts per year.

MCQs : Four marks will be awarded for each correct answer. A negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer will be followed.

Questions with numerical value answers : Four marks for each correct answer and there will be a negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer.

As per the new pattern, there will be no optional questions in section B of the JEE Mains 2025 exam.

The NTA recently announced that the JEE Main official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, will be launched along with the registration link.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the JEE Main exam date 2025 for both session 1 and session 2 soon. As per the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) latest notification, the JEE Main session 1 exams will be held in the last week of January 2025.
