Ranchi cyber crime police seek details of ‘JSPCreformanch’ X account over ‘false’ posts on Jharkhand govt

The Jharkhand cyber crime police in Ranchi has written to X corporation and sought details of an account, identified as “JPSCreformanch”, stating that the page has allegedly been spreading false and fabricated information about Jharkhand government

The Ranchi cyber crime police station, in its letter to X, alleged that the account has been circulating videos, images and posts containing misleading claims on government actions and to provoke conflict.

“With reference to the above mentioned subject this letter is issued in connection with a criminal investigation into the dissemination of false and misleading information. It has come to the notice of this office that the X account @JPSCreformanch ( JPSC JSSC REFORM MANCH) is being used to continuously post videos and photographs that contain false and fabricated news regarding the actions of the Government of Jharkhand ,” the Ranchi cyber crime branch said in its letter to X.

According to the Ranchi cyber crime police, one of the posts on the account claimed that the Hemant Soren government had “cheated students” and posted a video allegedly showing JMM goons threatening students .

This kind of post is “deliberately inciting public fear and unrest,” the crime branch police said in the letter.

Intercept, monitor, or decrypt information: Ranchi cyber police to X

“Falsely alleged police brutality and government inaction, misleading authorities and the public into believing that the state is acting against student interests,” the letter read.

While, another post read, in a tribal state, the government is abusing tribals, over which the Ranchi crime branch stated that it was a blatant defamatory statement aimed at lowering the reputation of the constitutional government .

Furthermore, it also mentioned that the account consistently uses abusive, derogatory language against constitutional authorities and spreads videos designed to provoke communal and social disharmony.

“In the interest of the ongoing investigation and to ascertain the identity of the individual(s) behind this handle, you are hereby directed, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 94 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, read with Section 69 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (which empowers the Government to direct intermediaries to intercept, monitor, or decrypt information for the purposes of investigation and public order),” the Ranchi cyber crime branch said.

Therefore, the cyber crime division of the police has asked X to provide registration details, including full name, residential address, contact telephone number, and alternative email address of the account holder.

It has also sought login and logout records with precise date and time stamps week, including IP addresses for the period covering August 10, 2026 and later.

The police also requested details of the devices used to access the account, including make, model, and IMEI numbers.
