JKBOSE Class 9, 10 maths, science, social science syllabi rationalised in line with NEP 2020

Download NowNEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has rationalised the Class 9 and 10 syllabi and assessment scheme of mathematics, science and social science subjects for the academic year 2023-24. The JKBOSE syllabus rationalisation has been done in line with the National Education Policy (NEP 2023).

JK Board said that the JKBOSE Class 10 syllabi of three subjects have been rationalised but the assessment of marks will remain the same as previous year. On the other hand, the JKBOSE Class 9 syllabus and marking scheme has been changed.
As per the scheme of studies, the compulsory subjects for Class 10 board exam 2024 are General English, Urdu or Hindi, mathematics, social science (history, political science, geography, economics, disaster management and road safety education) and science (physics, chemistry, biology).
English, Hindi and Urdu subjects syllabi and assessment will remain the same for both Class 9 and 10, the board said.
As per the marking scheme, internal assessment will have a weightage of 20 marks for all compulsory subjects and 80 marks for written exams.

JKBOSE optional subjects
The scheme of assessment of additional or optional subjects and subjects for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) has been changed as per NEP 2020, it added. According to JKBOSE Class 10 new syllabus brochure, “No repetition of compulsory language/ subject is allowed while opting for Additional/ Optional language/ subject.”
Student can opt one additional or optional subject from the following:
Additional/ Optional Subjects
- Vocational Subjects
- Computer Science (Non- Vocational)
Activity Related Areas
- Work Experience
- Health and Physical Education
- Art Education
Choice of subjects for CWSN
Apart from General English as compulsory subject, CWSN can opt for Alternative Courses from the list given below. They can opt either for Painting or Art and Drawing subjects.
- Painting
- Music
- Art and Drawing
- Home Science
- Computer Science.
