Students from 20 schools of the university were eligible to cast their ballot, according to the EC data. A total of 73% turnout was recorded during JNUSU 2024 polls. The Jawaharlal Nehru University is conducting election for its student body JNUSU after 2019.

JNUSU Elections 2024: Nominations
The United Left supported BAPSA's Priyanshi Arya as the candidature of its candidate general secretary Swati Singh was cancelled. The JNUSU election committee revoked the nomination of Swati Singh after the ABVP filed a challenge with the university's Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC). Later, Swati went on a hunger strike in protest of not being re-elected or nominated for the general secretary position. The high court had later quashed the rustication order.
Farheen Zaidi was competing for general secretary and Junaid Raza for president from the Congress's student organisation, NSUI. Rupak Kumar Singh for general secretary, Priyanshi Arya for joint secretary, MD Anas A for vice president, and Biswajit Minji for president were the BAPSA's candidates for the Central Panel.
