Kanpur University places 65 hotel management students in top five-star hotels

Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University: Kanpur University’s hotel management students have secured internships at 12 major hotel brands, including The Oberoi, Marriott, Hyatt and Pride Plaza.
Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), formerly known as Kanpur University, has placed 65 students from its School of Hotel Management in five-star hotels across the country for industrial training. The selection process was conducted under the supervision of Vice Chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak.
According to school director Saurabh Tripathi, students from the bachelor’s course begin their six-month internship after the fifth semester, while those enrolled in diploma programmes start after the second semester. The training is part of the academic requirement and gives students exposure to hotel operations and service processes.
Students from the current batch have secured internships at several top hotels. One student is interning at The Oberoi, Mumbai, while 10 students have joined Marriott, Mumbai. Nine have been selected for Pride Plaza, New Delhi; eight for Holiday Inn, Lucknow; 10 for Radisson, Greater Noida; three for Centrum, Lucknow; five for Hyatt, Gurugram; four each for Aurika, Udaipur, and Hotel Clarks Avadh, Lucknow; one for Hyatt, Lucknow; seven for Landmark Hotel, Kanpur; and two for DNG Grand.

Students receive job offers by eighth semester
Tripathi said the department also records a high rate of job placements. Most students from the bachelor’s course are offered jobs in hotels by the eighth semester. He said the hotel and tourism sector offers employment opportunities after Class 12 through bachelor’s and diploma programmes. Entry-level roles after these courses offer monthly salaries between Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000.
The admission process for the School of Hotel Management is in its final phase. Direct admission is open for the remaining seats. Candidates can register through the CSJMU website and visit the department with educational documents to complete the admission process.
