Karnataka Chief Minister announces setting up of 25,000 classrooms in next 3 years: Report

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai has announced to set up around 25,000 classrooms across the state in the coming three years, as per a report by Hindustan Times. Chief Minister Bommai was addressing the attendees at the inaugural ceremony of a science laboratory constructed in the Konanakere village in Shiggaon taluk.

Elaborating on the availability of classrooms at the assembly constituency, CM Bommai said that the construction of a total of 151 more classrooms is underway there. He added that the government aims to build around 500 more classrooms in the taluk within the upcoming three years.

As per the report, CM Bommai further said that the Karnataka government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 280 crores for the construction of separate toilets for boy and girl students at all government schools of the state. The objective shall be accomplished before August 15, 2023, he further said.

The Chief Minister also announced that a proposal has been laid to construct as many as 10 colleges that would offer pre-university (PU) courses. Saying that instructions have also been issued to teach science subjects at all the said colleges that are yet to be built, Bommai reflected on the previous two budgets, where the education sector was allotted 12 per cent of the total budgetary allocation.
