Karnataka NEET 2025: SJMC PG fees touch Rs 12.80 lakh a year; 1-year social service mandatory

The RGUHS-affiliated St John’s Medical College has 131 MD and MS seats. Candidates who fail to complete the one-year social obligation service will have to pay a penalty fee of Rs 5 lakh.

Use NowThe Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has notified the admission rules and fee details of St John’s Medical College Bengaluru for admission to postgraduate (PG) medical courses. The college, affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) offers 131 MD and MS courses through Karnataka NEET PG counselling 2025.
The KEA began the Karnataka NEET PG counselling registration process earlier this month. The detailed counselling schedule will be announced soon on the official website, cetonline.karnataka.gov.in, after the MCC AIQ dates are finalised.
The 131 seats have been divided into four categories – Roman Catholic Religious Nuns with SJMC-approved rural service, SJMC Alumni with approved rural service, Roman Catholic Christians (All India open merit), and general open merit.

The seats remaining vacant in each category will be transferred to the next eligible category in the order.
St John’s Medical College: Eligibility
Candidates seeking admission at SJMC will have to meet the eligibility criteria.
- Should have completed MBBS or PG medical diploma from any university recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
- compulsory rotating internship of one year on the date specified by KEA.
- Registration with the Indian Medical Council.
- Should have qualified NEET PG 2025.
- Should have executed one-year social obligation service to serve in SJMC or affiliated hospital after completion of PG course.
However, this is not applicable to SJMC alumni who have completed two years of rural service. The penalty for defaulting social obligation service is Rs 5 lakh.

St John’s Medical College: PG tuition fees
The highest total fee of Rs 12.80 lakh is for category 7 courses – MD Dermatology, MD Radiodiagnosis, MS Orthopaedics, MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The annual fee can be paid in 2 installments every six months from the second year onwards.
