NEW DELHI: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will conduct the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) 2024 today, August 4, for admission to MBA, MCA programmes offered by state colleges. The exam will be held in two shifts -- from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm for MCA and from 2:30 pm to 4:30 for MBA. Candidates will be required to carry their Karnataka PGCET 2024 admit card to the examination centre along with a photo ID proof, without which they will not be given entry.

As per the PGCET exam pattern 2024, each question paper will comprise 100 questions carrying one mark each. Candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct answer and there will not be any negative marking for incorrect responses, according to the marking scheme.

First Bell

  • The candidates should be allowed to enter and occupy their seats in the exam hall, upon showing their admission tickets and valid identity card.
  • The invigilator should verify the photograph pasted on the admission ticket with the ID and the
  • nominal roll with the candidate present for examination.
  • The invigilator should distribute the OMR answer sheets only to the candidates present in the examination hall. The candidates have to write their name on the sheet.
  • Afterwards, candidates have to carefully enter the PGCET number and shade the respective circle on the answer sheet.
  • The candidates should verify the PGCET number written on the OMR answer sheet with that of the PGCET number printed on the admission ticket.

Second Bell

  • The deputy chief superintendent or custodian should distribute the sealed question paper packet to room invigilators in the examination hall at 10:20 am to 2:20 pm.
  • The invigilator should loudly announce by showing the sealed question paper packet to the candidates present in the examination hall “the seal of the question paper packet is fully intact. Now, I request any two candidates present here to certify the same on this packet, so that I can open the seal of the question paper packet” and should obtain signatures of any two candidates present in the examination hall, in the space provided on the packet.
  • The invigilator should open the question paper packet and distribute the question booklets in the
  • prescribed manner only at 10.25 am or 2.25 pm to the candidates present in the examination hall.
  • The candidates should carefully enter the version code of the question booklet and shade the respective circle on the space provided on the answer sheet. They should also enter the question booklet serial on the answer sheet and affix their signature on bottom portion.

Third bell

  • The candidates should be allowed to open the question booklet and to start answering on the OMR answer sheet.
  • After this bell, the candidates should not be allowed either to enter or to leave the examination hall, till the completion of the session.

Fourth Bell

  • Caution bell to indicate completion of one hour of the exam

Fifth bell

  • Caution bell to indicate 30 minutes left for the exam to conclude.

Sixth bell

  • Last caution bell and invigilators should inform the candidates only five minutes remaining for the exam to end.

Seventh bell

  • Exam concludes.
  • Soon after this bell, the invigilator should first ensure that all the candidates have stopped answering on the OMR answer sheet.
  • The invigilator should collect the OMR answer sheets as it is from the candidates.
  • Before allowing the candidates to leave the examination hall, the invigilators must ensure that they have collected the OMR answer sheets from all the candidates.
  • The invigilator should separate the top sheet of the OMR answer sheet (Office copy) and retain the same with them.
  • The invigilator should return the bottom sheet replica (candidate copy) to the respective candidates, along with their question booklets.

Karnataka PGCET 2024 dress code, things to carry

Dress code for male candidates

  • Wear half-sleeve shirts as full-sleeve shirts are not allowed on the day of examination. Prefer to wear a collarless shirt as much as possible.
  • Trousers and plain trousers (without pockets or with deficit pockets) is the preferred dress code. Kurta pajama, jeans pants are not allowed.
  • Wear light clothes with no zip pockets, pockets, large buttons and elaborate embroidery.
  • Shoes are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall. Wear sandals or thin-soled sandals.
  • Refrain from wearing any metal ornaments around the neck or wearing earrings, rings and bracelets.

Dress code for women candidates

  • Refrain from wearing clothes with elaborate embroidery, flowers, brooches or buttons.
  • Full sleeved clothes or jeans should not be worn on the day of examination. Wear half-sleeved clothes.
  • High heeled shoes or sandals and footwear with thick soles should not be worn, thin soles should be worn.
  • Refrain from wearing any kind of metal jewelry. (except Mangalsutra and Kalungura).

List of prohibited items

  • Besides following the dress code, candidates should ensure not to carry any prohibited items to the examination centre listed below.
  • Electronic devices, mobile phones, pen drives, ear phones, microphones, bluetooth devices and wrist watches are not allowed inside the examination room.
  • Bringing and eating edibles into the exam room is prohibited, even drinking water bottles are not permitted.
  • Drinking water will be provided at the examination center itself.
  • Pencil, paper, eraser, cannot be brought inside the examination centre.
  • Do not wear a cap or hat on the head.
  • Do not wear any type of mask.

Only the following items are allowed to be brought on the day of examination.

  • Admit cards must be brought by all the candidates.
  • Valid ID mandated by govt. Bring photo identity card
  • Candidates are not allowed to leave the examination hall till the last bell of the examination.
