Karnataka releases Rs 37.56 crore grant to implement school education, literacy schemes from April to June

Karnataka releases first-quarter education grant; school infrastructure schemes receive no funds.
The Karnataka government has released Rs 37.56 crore (Rs 3,756.67 lakh) to the Department of School Education and Literacy for implementing state-sector schemes and programmes during the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year. According to a government order issued this month (originally in Kannada), the amount represents a three-month grant covering April to June 2026. The funds have been sanctioned under the department's budget allocation for 2026-27, and departmental heads have been authorised to utilise and disburse the amount in accordance with prescribed rules.
The order states that the grant will support a range of initiatives related to school education, teacher training, quality improvement, student welfare, adult education and public libraries. The government has also noted that Rs 8,120 lakh had already been released separately towards expenses related to the Second PUC examinations conducted in March 2026.

The release forms part of the state's quarterly expenditure plan.

Fund allocation is done to ensure uninterrupted implementation of approved schemes.
Infrastructure schemes with no grant release in first quarter
Several infrastructure-focused schemes did not receive any allocation under the three-month grant release.
