Karnataka SDMC Awards 2026-27: 612 schools to get cash prizes up to Rs 1 lakh

The Samagra Shikshana Karnataka (SSK) will recognise the best School Development and Monitoring Committees (SDMCs) for the 2026-27 academic year, with 612 schools across 204 taluks set to receive cash prizes. The awards are aimed at encouraging school development, academic improvement and greater participation of SDMC members.

The School Education and Literacy Department Karnataka, through its official X handle, said that the selection will be conducted through a four-stage online process from September 21 to October 22.

The department said the initiative has been designed to promote school quality, academic development and active community participation in government schools.

Karnataka SDMC Awards 2026-27: 612 schools to be selected

According to the department's post, the selection will cover Lower Primary, Higher Primary and High School categories across the state's 204 taluks.

After the district-level review and verification, software will select the top three schools from each taluk. This will result in a total of 612 winning schools.

The selected schools will receive cash prizes based on their category. Lower primary schools will receive Rs 50,000, higher primary schools will get Rs 75,000, while high schools will be awarded Rs 1 lakh.

The department said the awards are intended to recognise the role of SDMCs in improving school infrastructure, academic quality and community participation.

Four-stage online selection process

The selection process will be conducted entirely online, according to the School Education and Literacy Department, Karnataka.

The process will run from September 21 to October 22, with separate time periods assigned for each of the four stages. The department said district teams will review the entries before the final selection.

Following the district-level verification, software will identify the top three schools in each taluk.
