NEW DELHI, APRIL 19: KCET 2018, which was conducted across 53 cities in the state, has come to an end today. On the final day of the two-day exam, Chemistry and Physics papers were held. On day one, Mathematics papers were held. Conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), the exam is the gateway to undergraduate engineering programmes in government as well as many private colleges in Karnataka. This year KCET was conducted on April 18 &19.

The exam was conducted in pen-and-paper based mode in English and Kannada languages. The test duration was 2 hours, during which candidates had to answer 180 questions, 60 each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Question type was multiple-choice, with candidates having to enter their responses on OMR sheets using blue or black ball point pen. For every correct response, the candidate will be awarded 1 mark; there is no negative marking.

Answer keys by coaching institutes available now

Following the completion of the exam, many coaching institutes like BASE, Expert Classes and Allen have come up with answer keys for all the papers. In fact, the answers keys for Mathematics, and also Biology, were released by the above institutes on the same day of conclusion of the respective papers. Also, along with the answer keys, thorough exam analysis have also been released. Using the answer keys and the exam analysis, the candidate will be able to calculate their probable scores and thereby access their chances at getting admission.

The exam analysis of the question paper will throw insight into various aspects of the exam like – the subject-wise and overall difficulty level of the exam, type of questions asked, weightage of and questions. The candidate must check out exam analysis by different coaching institutes to get a balanced view of things and also to catch any unique information that some institutes may come up with.

Release of Official Answer Keys

The exam conducting authority will release the provisional answer keys for all the three papers tentatively in the 1 st week of May. Candidates will be able to compare their answers with those given in the provisional answer key and calculate probable scores; when allotting marks, the candidate must follow the marking scheme of the exam. The official answer keys are a key element in bringing transparency to the admission process.

Following the release of the provisional answer keys, candidates will be given a window during which they will be able to challenge any keys in the provisional answer keys. The final answer key will be published after considering all complaints before declaration of result.

Declaration of results

Exam authorities haven’t yet announced any date on which the result of the entrance exam will be out; however, it is expected that the result would be out by last week of May. The result will be available online on the candidate’s login portal. To access the result, candidates will have to log in to the portal using their registration number and password.
