The fund transfer is expected to benefit 8.19 lakh students from disadvantaged backgrounds studying in Classes 1 to 8 across the state
Under the Right to Education (RTE) scheme, the Madhya Pradesh government has transferred Rs 502 crore to 20,456 private schools as fee reimbursement. Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister (CM) of Madhya Pradesh , had earlier announced the initiative to support free education for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections.
According to media reports, the fund transfer was completed on October 11, 2026, through a single-click transaction in Narsinghpur district. Uday Pratap Singh, School Education Minister, along with local representatives and students, was also present at the event.
The programme, which was held to release funds under the RTE scheme, also included the inauguration of the new building of the government Sandipani Utkrisht Vidyalaya. The school has facilities like science laboratories, a library, digital classrooms, a computer lab and transport services to support students’ learning. The institution has been developed to give a modern learning environment for students from Kindergarten (KG) 1 to Class 12.

RTE reimbursement will benefit 8.19 lakh students
The Rs 502 crore reimbursement will cover eligible students who are enrolled in 20,456 private schools across Madhya Pradesh. The initiative will help children from disadvantaged backgrounds and give access to education without the burden of tuition fees.
Under the Right to Education Act, eligible children from underprivileged backgrounds can get free admission to private schools in Classes 1 to 8. The government will reimburse the fees directly to the schools rather than transferring the amount to students or their families.
The state government has already released more than Rs 3,600 crore in fee reimbursements under the RTE scheme since 2011 that has been offering benefits to over 16.85 lakh students, according to reports. This scheme will reduce financial barriers to schooling and improve access to education for children.
