NEW DELHI: Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced on Twitter that Maharashtra state board exams of Classes 10 and 12 have been postponed. The decision was taken in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases. The board decided that Class 12 exams will be held by the end of May, while Class 10 exams will be held in June. Previously, the Maharashtra Board HSC and SSC exams 2021 were scheduled to begin from April 23 and 29, 2021, respectively.
The education minister, Varsha Gaikwad, said, “We're closely monitoring the health situation. Fresh dates for these exams will be announced accordingly. The decision is the outcome of consultations with various stakeholders-students, teachers, parents, elected representatives from across parties, academicians and tech giants- in the wake of rising coronavirus cases.”

She said that the present circumstances are not conducive for holding exams and students’ health is priority. Along with SSC and HSC, entrance exams for professional courses have also been postponed.
“During the consultations, various alternative assessment options were evaluated keeping the health, well-being and future of our students in mind. Postponing exams seemed to be the most pragmatic solution”, she added.
