The Hindi or entire Hindi paper carries a total of 100 marks and is designed as a comprehensive language course. It covers detailed sections including prose (Gadya), poetry (Padya), supplementary reading (Purak Pathan), grammar (Bhasha Abhyas), and extended writing skills (Upayojit Lekhan), such as essays and formal letter writing.
In contrast, the Hindi Composite paper is structured for students who opt to combine Hindi with another language subject, such as Sanskrit. Under this format, the second language requirement of 100 marks is divided into two separate papers of 50 marks each, allowing students to split their assessment across two subjects.
To pass the Maharashtra SSC Board examination, students are required to secure a minimum of 35% marks in each subject as well as in aggregate.
A total of 16,15,489 candidates are appearing for the Maharashtra SSC (Class 10) Board Examination 2026. The cohort comprises 8,65,740 boys, 7,49,736 girls, and 13 transgender students. Maharashtra Board Exams 2026: SSC, HSC exam centres de-recognised
The Maharashtra government has withdrawn recognition from 107 examination centres across the state as part of a major crackdown on copying and other malpractices during the Class 10 and 12 board examinations, State Minister Dada Bhuse informed the Assembly.
Responding during Question Hour, Bhuse stated that the government has once again initiated a “copy-free examination campaign” for the February–March 2026 board exams, similar to the previous year, to maintain a fair and secure examination process. In his written reply, he noted that recognition of 31 centres for Class 10 and 76 centres for Class 12 examinations was cancelled following reports of irregularities around January 13.
