Manchester University invites application from Indians for LLM in Security and International Law

NEW DELHI: The University of Manchester is inviting applications from Indian students for their LLM in Security and International Law programme for the academic session 2024-25. The tuition fee for LLM Security and International Law is around 25 lakh per annum.

To apply for the course, candidates will have to first register themselves on the official website, manchester.ac.uk. Candidates should check individual course pages for closing dates as lots of master’s courses do not have official closing dates, the official website read.

The institute said that this one-year programme provides students with the opportunity to cultivate advanced knowledge of the regulatory frameworks essential for ensuring the security of international relations and transactions. This includes interactions among states, non-state entities, multinational companies, and individuals.

The course will also offer around 30 different course units in any one year and cover a diverse range of subjects across the legal spectrum, it said.

University of Manchester Admission 2024: Eligibility

Candidates can check the eligibility criteria before applying for the master's course in law.

  • Candidates should have completed a minimum of a three-year degree and obtained first-class from a reputable university.

  • The minimum requirement ranges from 60-80% overall, depending on the reputation of the university of prior study and grading scale.

  • Candidates should demonstrate a strong foundation in law modules relevant to the course, including public law and contract law and achieve high scores in relevant modules.

  • Candidates should have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic test score of 7, including 7 in writing with no further component score below 6.5.

  • Candidates have passed the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with 25 in writing and no further score below 22 in each section.

  • Candidates should have a valid Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 76 overall, with 76 in writing and no further score below 70.

  • In addition, English language scores from Indian Class 12 exams can also be acceptable, depending on the board and the overall score achieved.

Several merit-based scholarships, including the Manchester Humanities International Excellence Scholarship, Humanities Postgraduate Indian Scholarships, and The Bicentenary Global Futures Scholarships will be available for shortlisted candidates. Additionally, Indian government scholarships are also available to students from specific states or backgrounds, the institute said in a statement.
