Manipur Election 2022: Of 173 candidates, 2 are just 5th pass, finds ADR report
Manipur Election 2022: While no candidate is illiterate,1 is 8th pass, 12 are 10th pass, 22 are 12th pass, 60 graduate, 44 post graduate, 6 doctorate, 3 diploma.

NEW DELHI: With Manipur Election 2022 date being less than 10 days now, the Manipur Election Watch and the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has analysed the educational background along with financial, criminal, gender backgrounds of the 173 candidates contesting in the elections.

According to the ADR report, while not a single candidate is illiterate, 2 candidates have declared themselves to be just 5th pass.
“37 (21%) candidates have declared their educational qualifications to be between 5th and 12th standard while 133(77%) candidates have declared having an educational qualification of graduate or above. 3 candidates are Diploma holders,” said the ADR report.

According to the ADR report, the overall educational qualification of 173 candidates in Manipur election 2022 is given below:

The Association recommended that the Election Commission of India and all State Election Commissions should make it mandatory in all elections to carry display boards outside every polling booth showing a summarized version of candidates’ affidavits. The polling booths should essentially display details of the candidate's criminal records, assets, liabilities and education qualification.
Manipur assembly election 2022 will be conducted from February 27 to March 10, 2022.
