New university will expand Masters’ Union's learn-by-building model into multidisciplinary education, with entrepreneurship and industry-led learning as its core
The Haryana Legislative Assembly has passed the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2026, paving the way for the establishment of Masters’ Union University in Gurugram. The development marks a new phase for the Gurgaon-based institution, which began its journey in 2020 with a practitioner-led approach to higher education.
Masters’ Union has spent the past six years developing a learn-by-building model, focused on enabling students to apply their learning to real-world challenges while pursuing their education. The institution was built around learning from entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals who have worked on practical problems.
With university status, Master's Union plans to extend this model beyond business education and develop a broader multidisciplinary institution. Its approach centres on giving students opportunities to build companies, work on live industry problems and develop products as part of their academic experience.
Masters’ Union expands learning model
The institution's model brings entrepreneurs, CXOs, investors, technologists and other practitioners directly into the learning process. It is based on the belief that students can gain practical experience by taking ownership of real problems, working with experts, managing resources and making decisions with real-world impact.

Pratham Mittal, Founder, Masters’ Union, said, “We are grateful to the Government of Haryana for the confidence it has placed in Masters’ Union. For us, this is a strong validation of a model we have pioneered over the last six years. In the AI age, access to information is no longer the constraint. The real advantage will come from knowing how to frame problems, make decisions and build solutions. That is why we have always believed in learning by doing - students taking ownership of a real problem, understanding it from the ground up, working with experts, managing resources and making decisions with real-world impact. We believe Indian higher education will increasingly have to be built around these capabilities, and becoming a university gives us the opportunity to take this model across newer disciplines and to a much larger student community.”
Gurugram campus to gain new facilities
The university will expand the physical infrastructure supporting its learning model. The Gurugram site covers approximately 5.14 acres of contiguous land and has an existing constructed area of around 1.07 lakh square feet, including approximately 96,600 square feet of instructional space.
The broader campus plan includes accelerator and venture-building spaces, maker and analytics labs, residences, cultural and sporting facilities, along with advanced research and incubation infrastructure. The expansion is intended to support the institution's multidisciplinary university model.
Student startups strengthen entrepreneurship ecosystem
Entrepreneurship has been a key part of the Masters’ Union experience. Since its inception, the institution has supported more than 80 student startups through venture initiation programmes and other venture-building initiatives.
Ten startups incubated through the venture initiation programme have raised over Rs. 65 crore and recorded combined annual revenue of Rs. 320 crore in FY25. Student ventures have received investment from IIFL Wealth, Avaana Capital, Chimera, 100X.VC, Lumikai, Big Bets and others. Most recently, student-founded digital fashion startup meta fashion raised approximately USD 400,000 in a Lumikai-led pre-seed round.
Masters’ Union reports strong placement outcomes
Masters’ Union has also reported strong employer interest. During its last placement cycle, the institution recorded an average compensation of Rs. 34.07 lakh per annum, while four offers exceeded Rs. 1 crore. The highest package at Rs. 1.28 crore.
The institution also reported 30 international offers across the US, Canada, UAE and Saudi Arabia, with an average compensation of Rs. 64 lakh per annum. The placement report was audited by B2K analytics, formerly brickwork analytics.
University to offer multidisciplinary programmes
Masters’ Union currently has a student population of more than 3,000 and offers programmes spanning management, technology and engineering, as well as family business and executive learning.
Its faculty includes academics alongside entrepreneurs, CXOs, investors, technologists and other practitioners. This reflects its focus on connecting academic learning with industry and enterprise as it moves towards its new university status.
