PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate AIIMS Bilaspur among other development projects worth over Rs 3,650 crore in Himachal Pradesh on October 5, 2022.
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh around 11:30 AM on October 5, 2022. Modi laid the foundation stone for the hospital back in October 2017.
The construction of the AIIMS hospital Bilaspur took more than Rs 1,470 crore and four years to complete. The 'state-of-the-art' hospital comes with 18 specialty and 17 super specialty departments, capacity of 750 beds including 64 ICU beds and 18 modular operation tables.
The area spans over 247 acres while the hospital is equipped with round-the-clock 24 hour emergency and dialysis facilities. AIIMS hospital Bilaspur also provides modern diagnostic machines like CT scans, ultrasonography, MRI, Amrit pharmacy and Jan Aushadhi Kendra along with 30 beds in the Ayush block, etc.
The AIIMS hospital will be providing health services to remote tribals areas of Himachal Pradesh through the Centre for Digital Health. Additionally, specialist health services through health camps to be provided by the hospital in the inaccessible tribal and high regions like Kaza, Saluni and Keylong. The hospital will be opening admission for 100 MBBS course candidates and a total of 60 students for their nursing courses every year.
Other development projects
PM Modi is also scheduled to lay foundation to a Rs 1,690 crore project of a 31 km long four-lane National Highway from Pinjore to Nalagarh on the NH-105. The road will become a major connecting link to control traffic from Ambala, Panchkula, Chandigarh and Shimla going towards Bilaspur, Manali and Mandi. Around 18 km of the project road belongs to Himachal Pradesh while the rest falls in Haryana.
Another project worth Rs 350 crore will have its foundation stone laid by PM Modi. The Medical Device Park at Nalagarh aims to enhance employment opportunities in the region. Several agreements worth more than Rs 800 crore have been signed for setting up industries the the Medical Device Park in Himachal Pradesh.
Lastly, PM will be inaugurating the Government Hydro Engineering College at Bandla, costing about Rs 140 crore. Himachal Pradesh is one of the leading states in hydro power project, this college will be providing trained manpower for these hydro power projects. This will help in the upskilling youth and increasing job opportunities.
