Mumbai University Admission 2025: The admission process has been reinstated with immediate effect, provided that NAAC, NBA, or CDC guidelines are fulfilled.
The University of Mumbai (MU) has decided to lift ban on over 200+ colleges for admissions to affiliated institutes. The admission process of the concerned institutes has been reinstated with immediate effect, subject to the fulfillment of guidelines within 6 months.
The colleges have been granted an extension to complete the admission process for the academic year 2025-26. Admission to affiliated colleges was suspended as they failed to comply with the mandatory accreditations and governance norms.
As per the MU notice, students who have submitted their admission form and are willing to apply for other colleges have to generate a new application form using a different email ID.
Additionally, MU has directed students to generate their academic bank of credits (ABC) IDs within 15 days and update their admission profile. Students will be granted provisional admission till they generate their ABC ID. Both students and institutions have to ensure ABC ID of every student is uploaded on the university portal within the given deadline.
A total of 229 colleges were suspended for admissions for the academic year 2025, of which 156 did not secure accreditation or re-accreditation of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) or the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Whereas other colleges on the list failed to establish college development committees (CDCs), which is mandatory for institutional governance and control.
MU had also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each university following the non-compliance with the guidelines, despite several reminders.
