NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Education has invited applications for the National Award to Teachers 2024. The National Award to Teachers 2024 nomination window is open on the official portal – nat.aicte-india.org. As per the official website, the last date to nominate for the National Award to Teachers 2024 is June 20.
Nomination for the award are to be submitted through the online portal, Rashtriya Puraskar Portal, awards.gov.in, following the prescribed format. A system-generated OTP will be used for submission, and an email notification will also be sent to the head of the institution.
As per the official brochure, the objective of the National Award to Teachers 2024 in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) is to acknowledge the contributions made by outstanding faculty members across the nation and commend them for their commitment and efforts, particularly in teaching and pedagogy. The Award aims to recognise and honor the accomplishments of faculty members in various aspects such as teaching-learning, community engagement, institutional service, research, and innovative initiatives within the realm of higher education.
National Award to Teachers 2024: Eligibility
The National Award to Teachers 2024 is available to faculty members working in colleges, universities, higher educational institutions, and polytechnics throughout India, provided they meet the following criteria:
- Regular faculty: Nominees must hold a regular teaching position.
- Teaching experience: They should have a minimum of five years of full-time teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Age limit: Nominees must not exceed 55 years of age as of the application deadline.
- Ineligibility of certain positions: Vice-Chancellors, Directors, and Principals (whether regular or officiating) are ineligible to apply. However, individuals who have previously held these positions but are still below 55 years of age and actively employed are eligible.
National Award to Teachers 2024: Number of awardees
Every year, a total of thirty-five awards will be given, with twenty-five in category-I and ten in category-II. Each recipient will receive a medal, a certificate, and a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
