Eligible school teachers from government, aided and private schools can submit self-nominations through the National Awards Portal.

The Department of School Education and Literacy under the Union Ministry of Education has invited online applications and nominations for the National Teachers Awards 2026. Eligible teachers can submit their self-nominations till July 10, 2026, through the National Awards Portal at nationalawardstoteachers.education.gov.in.
According to the Ministry of Education, the National Teachers Awards are presented every year to honour teachers who have made outstanding contributions towards improving the quality of school education and promoting the holistic development of students.
Teachers serving in schools run by the central government, state governments, Union Territory administrations, local bodies, and aided and private schools affiliated with recognised education boards are eligible to apply, subject to the conditions mentioned in the official guidelines.

"The awards seek to recognise the outstanding contribution of teachers towards improving the quality of school education and promoting the holistic development of students," the ministry said.
The ministry has advised applicants to carefully read the detailed guidelines, eligibility criteria, evaluation process and timelines available on the National Awards Portal before submitting their applications.

Teachers who meet the eligibility criteria can submit their self-nominations through the National Awards Portal within the prescribed deadline by following the steps below.

Click on the registration link available on the home page
On the next page, enter the identification details and contact details
Verify and click next to complete the Teachers Awards registration 2026 process
Next, log in and fill the National Teachers Awards application
After filling, verify and submit
Download the application and take a printout of the same for future reference.
